The organization is headed by the Director, a senior Indian Forest Service (IFS) Officer headquartered at Dehradun. The four constituent academies / colleges in Dehradun, Coimbatore, Burnihat near Guwahati and Kurseong near Darjeeling are headed by Principals, who are supported by Lecturers and Instructors. The offices at the Headquarters as well as the four constituent units have dedicated ministerial staff.
